Retrograde Mercury Strikes Again
I just got an email from Nicky (who originally helped Lila set up this blog, and who owns the Guttergaunt web domain and maintains it for us). Here’s what he says:
My web host has been having security problems with blogs that run on outdated versions of WordPress – and the version that the Guttergaunt blog runs on is quite outdated indeed. My web host just sent out a notification that they’re going to be disabling all blogs on their servers that run on outdated versions of WordPress, until the account-holders (i.e., me) upgrade to the current version.
I’m writing a thesis at the moment and might not have time to do the necessary upgrade until later this month. Which means that the blog may disappear for anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. If that happens, don’t panic – it will reappear when I do have time to do the upgrade.
Also, the template (or “theme”) the blog uses – the formatting that gives it its distinctive appearance – probably won’t be compatible with the latest version of WordPress. Which means that when I do get around to doing the upgrade, the appearance of the blog is likely to change dramatically. I’ll select the new theme based on my sense of what Lila would approve of aesthetically.
Apologies in advance for the possible temporary hiatus, and all my regards to you, your mistress, and your friends and readers.
Well, I hope this won’t take us offline too long… and I’m sure curious to see what our new look will be like!
